Where Flowers Bloom in the Desert
Quality Living for the Whole Person

We will be offering affordable home-style living for adults, again, sometime in the next few years..

We aim to open two new houses this year, (1) is proposed to be a low-stress environment for those who have eating disorders, or special needs surrounding nutrition, and (2) is proposed to be a dorm house for English as a second language students.

We only own one home now, our student dorm room home-style boarding house, but we plan to expand to several homes; hypoallergenic homes for people with severe allergies, homes for soldiers and veterans, rehab homes for the injured or addicted, homes for the disabled, homes for the elderly, homes for refugees, and homes for single parents.

Our present home is a stable and orderly place to study, with wireless high speed Internet connections, free desk tops available for each room, free storage, BBQ, yard, a cat garden, a workshop, and 3 public parks, 2 public swimming pools, 2 private swimming pools, tennis courts, basketball courts within a about 6 blocks away. Pets are allowed; maximum amount five. (If there are already five pets no more pets will be allowed. Your pets must be able to somehow get along with the other pets). You don't have to be a student to live in our student dorm room boarding house, only a student-aged person starting out in life.

What is different about our homes? We offer holistic green living, a world class healthy menu, and our own free self-improvement classes. Our holistic living includes physical exercises and aromatherapy for improving test scores, menus with recipes from all over the world that have also been shown to improve test scores. You can find out more about our food at our cookbook blog, or at the Our Whole Food link on this website.  Our self-help classes focus on creating your own job through microbusiness ownership.

Our classes are based on books by such authors as Beth De Point, Nancy Lobb, Loral Langemeier, and Keith R. McFarland. Classes include subjects like how to use money wisely, speed cleaning a room, planning a marketing strategy, writing a business plan, bidding for government contracts, shopping for a franchise, buying an existing business, or filing a patent. In addition to offering classes, our institute offers assistance in finding resources in the community that can help our boarders start their own microbusinesses.

How do we govern our dorm boarding house?  Three meals and three snacks are served seven days a week. Sack meals, of either breakfast, lunch, or dinner may be requested 24 hours ahead of time. Meals are included in the rent of $375 a month per dorm bed, or $1500 per Winter semester, $1875 per Spring semester, and $1175 per Summer semester. The high speed Internet, the TV service, and utilities are also included. The is only one private dorm room, the other two are double occupancy.

We have regular informal meetings where boarders may discuss their needs. If a boarder needs help applying for a Pell Grant, help finding a free tutor, or simply needs help with the hot water supply of the showers, we seek to find out about it and provide assistance.

The maximum number of boarders for this home is five. This could be arranged to be five friends who are students who would like to room together, or five students who have just met.

Our dorms are monitored 24-hours a day. There is one on-site dorm supervisor, who is overseen by a manager. We soon plan to have two on-site dorm supervisors. The basement has room for two supervisors to live in the basement. The present supervisor is a part of the family business. We plan for the second supervisor to be an Americorp volunteer. The manager will be on shift when the two regular dorm supervisors are off.

Its true, flowers can even bloom in the desert.
